Tennessee Iris Festival begins this weekend in Dresden

Originally known at the Easter Parade, the Tennessee Iris Festival in Dresden has evolved through its 37 years and this weekend, begins what’s expected to be one of the best yet.

This year’s festival includes a city-wide yard sale Saturday, a Bicycle Rodeo, Power Wheels in the Park for children up to age 7, and arts and crafts marketplace opening at 4:00 and the official opening ceremonies Saturday night at 6:00.

On Sunday, the Cemetery Walk will be held in Sunset Cementery highlighting the lives of those who lived in Dresden and made a significant contribution to the community.

This year’s Tennessee Iris Festival’s Executive Board includes co-chairs Sarah McAlpin and Josh Pirtle, along with board members Lauren Bean, Kate Bynum, Melinda Goode, Maegan Jolley, Erica Moore, Willie Parker, Beverly Oliver, Marla Rook, Mayor Jeff Washburn, and Dresden High School Student Representatives Alex Dunn and Claire McAlpin.
