The Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame will grow by 12 members, when induction ceremonies are held on May 14th in Murfreesboro.
Six “Legacy” inductees will take their place in the Hall, along with six “Career” inductees.
WUSY-FM in Chattanooga will also be inducted as the year’s “Legendary Station”.
Legacy honors will be bestowed upon:
Harry Chapman – 23 year DJ and sales manager, with 17 of those in Memphis;
Warren Medley – 58 years as part time DJ and host at WDKN in Dickson;
Dave Overton – 42 years as announcer and news director, along with Grand Ole Opry announcer for WSM;
Aaron Robinson Sr. – during his career, he and investor built a chain of seven stations that included WENK in Union City and WTPR in Paris;
Charlie Scott – worked 30 years at Nashville stations, including his time as the announcer of “The Pat Boone Show”;
and Cal Young Jr. – helped establish one of the nations first 24-hour a day country music stations in 1957.
Career honors will include:
Maxine Humphreys – for 61 years reported the 12:30 news on WGRV Greenville, with over 17,000 newscasts;
Keith Landecker – program director and DJ at WJTT in Chattanooga;
Cathy Martindale – 32 years as morning air personality, 23 of those in Nashville;
Bill ”Dex” Poindexter – over 40 years as DJ and still working at WUSY in Chattanooga. 2013 inductee into Country Music Hall of Fame.
Earl Freudenberg – over 50 years in broadcasting and still news director for WDYN in Chattanooga.
And Bart Walker – almost 60 years as DJ, program director and owner. Current owner and GM at WGNS in Murfreesboro.
